Live streaming platform development
Kittch is the first live-streaming community of culinary creatorsKittch is a social commerce creators startup platform for chefs, designed to help consumers discover culinary creators and transact food purchases. Kittch's mission is to help chefs transition from a bricks-and-mortar world to a digital one.
Idea
Kittch founders: veteran and entrepreneur Brian Bedol (who founded the sports channels that would become ESPN Classic and CBS Sports Network); Doug DeLuca, a co executive producer on Jimmy Kimmel Live; and Elana Karp, the former head chef and cofounder of Plated, wanted to create Twitch for chefs.
They came to us with the idea and passion of live streaming platform development for chefs to share their experience and start the monetization of their knowledge. A platform where both chefs and visitors could have an environment for cooking and conversing. Chefs can create their profile with a detailed description, list their recipes, and create online streams. Visitors with different subscription options (paid and free), receive personalized notifications about new stream sessions from their favorite chefs.
Discovery
During our collaboration and brainstorming, we’ve come up with the decision to create a MVP (Minimum viable product) for the Beta release. We installed a basic set of features with further improvement along the second iteration of the release.
Under the Discovery stage, MOC specialists held many discussion sessions with the customer, as a result, an idea and concept were converted into wireframes, requirements, a plan of live streaming platform development and an end date.
After a successful release in January, the Master of Code team proceeded to work on the second phase of live streaming platform development.
What We Created
Master of Code performed live streaming platform development for chefs, that included:
-
01A chef’s profile with detailed information about them (banner, avatar, name, categories), including his work profile, add call-to-action buttons to follow his profile on Kittch or redirect to personal or social media pages. Each chef can create a list of their recipes and create a stream. Based on the recipes shown, visitors can prepare for the session and buy ingredients.
- 02Options to create immediate live streaming or to schedule them. Past streams are made available under chef`s profile.
- 03A comment section under the stream screen.
- 04Visitors could follow the chefs and view their content for free, but also buy a paid subscription. Paid visitors could join the stream cooking sessions with video and communicate with the chef orally, raise a hand, ask questions. Subscription option became available via Stripe integration for Kittch.
- 05The event, created by the chef, could be private or public. The public stream is available for each visitor, but private only for a dedicated guest list from the chef. This option gives an opportunity to create a private degustation, where the chef can send wine to the guest beforehand.
- 06Users can save different recipes from chefs and create their own cook book.
